Training Procedure for the FACSCanto and LSRFortessa:
Contact Debby Walthall (PSC 519; 404-413-5363) for training plan.


Flow Training plan:
1. Initial meeting to discuss your experiments and schedule training times.
2. Invitrogen tutorials. 5 tutorials (not the Attune tutorial), 3 on fluorescence and 2 on Flow cytometry and analysis. These are very helpful tutorials. BD tutorialonline explains how the instruments work. I also have several Flow books that you can look through.
3. Meet for 30- 45 minutes or so (Billed time) to discuss the tutorials. Before doing any experiments, you need to understand how flow cytometry works and what you are looking at, as the cells go through the cytometer.
4. FACSCanto/LSRFortessa - even if you will not be running samples on the instrument, you will need to do the Diva software tutorial (3 - 4 hours). This is so you can analyze your samples yourself.
5. FACSCanto - if you will be running samples, you will need an extra hour or so (Billed time) to go over all the details of running and maintaining the instrument. I can also help you develop a protocol with appropriate lasers, detectors, voltages, compensation and threshold for your specific experiment. For several times, until you are comfortable on the instrument, I need to be around just in case you have any questions.
6. FACSCanto HTS - the plate attachment for the Canto. If you would like to use the HTS, there is additional training required.
7. LSRFortessa - if you will be running samples, you will need a 15 min. or so (Billed time) to go over all the details of running and maintaining the instrument. I can also help you develop a protocol with appropriate lasers, detectors, voltages, compensation and threshold for your specific experiment. For several times, until you are comfortable on the instrument, I need to be around just in case you have any questions.
8. FlowJo tutorial, if needed. Analysis program that allows you to overlay your data. I can help you get started on the tutorial and you can try a 30 day trial. We have a licensed copy in PSC and NSC, if needed.

Training Procedure for the Accuri C6:

Flow Training plan:
1. Initial meeting to discuss your experiments and schedule training times.
2. Invitrogen tutorials. 5 tutorials (not the Attune tutorial), 3 on fluorescence and 2 on Flow cytometry and analysis. These are very helpful tutorials. BD tutorial online explains how the instruments work. I also have several Flow books that you can look through.

4. When you have samples, I will show you the software and how to run your samples. The Accuri has a loader that can take tubes or plates.
5. I can help you develop a protocol with appropriate lasers, detectors, compensation and threshold for your specific experiment. For several times, until you are comfortable on the instrument, I need to be around just in case you have any questions. I will also show you the statistics tab as well as the analysis tab. This software does allow for overlays.
6. FlowJo tutorial, if needed. Analysis program that allows you to overlay your data. I can help you get started on the tutorial and you can try a 30 day trial. We have a licensed copy in PSC and NSC, if needed.

Understanding and analyzing your results takes time. Our goal is for you to understand your flow data and be able to explain your results as needed. I can meet with you to go over your results until you are comfortable with your Flow data.
